Central Market or Nat Market is one of the biggest market in Battambang. This market is an taxi station in the old time. Now a days, this market gather all kind of seller with their special products such as fresh ingredients, fruits, meats, fishes, imported product, clothes, jewelry. etc.
Banan Hill, or Phnom Banan is located on the top of approximately 400 meter high mountain at Koh Tey 2 commune, Banan District around 20 kilometer from the Battambang town. In the valley, there is Ku Teuk and two main natural wells, namely: Bit Meas and Chhung or Chhung Achey.
There are 358 steps, this is a real exercice. The temple complex consists of five towers arranged in a cruciform pattern. There are a few panoramic views on the province. Adapts the architecture of mid 11th century and the end of 12th century the temple.
Wat Ek Phnom
Wat Ek Phnom is an Angkorian ruin located around 11 km from Battambang City which is certainly a great Battambang tourist attraction for any temple enthusiast or as a taster to anyone unfamiliar with the Angkor temples. Adapts the architecture of 11th century and built in 1027 during the reign of King Suryavarman II.
Phnom Sampov is a natural resort located along the National Road No 57 at Sam Puoy commune and around 15 kilometer from the Battambang City. On the top of Sam Puoy mountain, there is a temple (important religious site known throughout all Cambodia) and three natural wells, namely Pkar Slar, Lo Khuon, Ak Sopheak many stupas along with various shrines and grottos. During the Khmer Rouge the mountain was used to kill “enemies” and in what are known as the “killing caves“. Every evening at nightfall thousands of bats make their way out of caves in the hillside to feed before returning at dawn. This natural phenomenon really is a “must see” for the visitor. Next to Sam Puoy mountain, there are some mountains, and natural sites like Phnom Trung Moan, Phnom Trung Tea and Phnom Neang Rum Say Sork.
Kamping Pouy Lake
Located between two mountains, named Phnom Kul or Phnom Ta Nget and Phnom Kamping Pouy, at Ta Nget village, Ta Kriem Commune is around 35 kilometer from the Battambong City. Kamping Pouy lake is a gigantic civil-engineering project the Khmer Rouge 1,900 meter wide, 19 kilometer long and can load 110,000,000 cubic meters (during the rainy season). It is famous for its giant lotus flowers whose fiber is spun and weaved to make a new organic fabric.
Baset Temple Was built during the reign of King Suryavarman II (11 century) and located on a hill at near Baset village, Ta Pon commune around 15 kilometer from the Battambong town. Near to the temple, there is a beautiful ancient pond 20 meter long 12 meter wide and 10 meter deep. The pond never dries up even in the dry season.
Prasat Snung is characterized by three separated stupas made of brick in Snung pagoda’s area, located on a hill 30 meter long and 20 meter wide, Snung commune, Banan District around 15 kilometer from the Battambong. This temple is similar to other temples in 12th century. Behind the temple, there is another recent temple being built.
Sek Sak Resort
Sek Sak Resort is a beautiful natural resort, which has been popular since 1960. The natural resort stretches along the river bank with plants, tall trees and bamboo stretching 500 meter length. Khmer tourists or foreigners tourists can also visit other attractive sites like Po Pus Pich Chen Da Dong Tong and Sa Ang speak. Sek Sak located Treng commune, Rotanak Mondul District around 50 kilometer from the Battambong along the National Road No 57.
The bamboo train is a unique and creative of local transportation. This is of a small motorcycle engine fixed on bamboo cart that rides on railroad rails, picking up and dropping off passengers, animals, motorcycles from just outside of the city to a village that has a brick factory. the control of this business is make by the local tourist police
Phare Circus (Phare Ponleu Selpak)
gives performances every Monday and Thursday evening (5 min with tuk-tuk from the centre of Battambang). The shows include different circus disciplines like acrobatics, juggling,clowning, aerial work, tightrope walking and aqua-balance. The spectacle is make by students from the NGO arts school, Phare Ponleu Selpak. This organisation helps poor children or trafficking and to get an education, both in normal public school and in the arts.
